Small Sea Creatures

This week we got to make some really fun small sea creatures. There are so many but I think Experience Curriculum picked the right ones for this week. This week we learned about Jellyfish, X-Ray Fish, Seahorse, Rainbowfish and Sea Star.

Our jellyfish craft was a Make & Play hat. Each child had a shower cap and some curling ribbon. We let the kids use packing tape to attach the ribbon to the inside of the hat. We had to help them stick it on but they looked really cute with the hats on.

The kids all gathered around the table to color their jellyfish all sorts of fun colors. I love the fact that there are 20 pictures each month for them to color. It is part of the extras from our wonderful curriculum.

For our Invitation to Create activity one day we let the kids get creative with cue tips and black paper to make their x-ray fish. The younger kids needed some help but the older kids did it on their own. I love how they decided where to put the “bones”.

For seahorses it was a Make & Play puppet. We let them pick a colored craft stick and we glued it on after they finished coloring it and putting the eye on. Even the youngest kids could enjoy this. Of course, we found videos to watch for all of the sea creatures.

We love the story of the Rainbow Fish and we got to watch videos of real rainbow fish. In an Invitation to Create activity the kids used sequins to make their fish shiny colors. We let them put things how they wanted.

For the Sea Star Invitation to Create we got out the Do-A-Dot paint for them to put dots on their sea stars. They loved doing that and used all different colors. That was really fun for even the younger kids. The older kids love to use that paint, too.

Each month we get these great I Can Read books for the kids. They have started making them were the kids add content on the last two pages. Makes it unique to them. Then they get to build sentences with the words and pictures.

Remember, There's Adventure Around Every Corner!

*Please note that at this time we were using our "homeschool's name", BCAA.
